About Clear Aligners

Clear aligners have changed what orthodontic treatment looks and feels like for millions of patients — and for good reason. Instead of metal brackets and wires, clear aligners use a series of custom-made, nearly invisible plastic trays to gently guide your teeth into alignment over time. Each tray is worn for a set period, then swapped for the next in the series, with every step moving you a little closer to the smile you’ve been picturing.

At Dual Image Orthodontics, clear aligner treatment is always planned and supervised by Dr. Bryan and Dr. Lauren Lockhart — two board-certified orthodontists with the expertise to treat everything from mild crowding to complex bite issues. That’s an important distinction, because clear aligners are only as good as the treatment plan behind them.

How clear aligners work

The process starts with a 3D digital scan of your teeth — no goopy impressions, no discomfort. That scan becomes the foundation of your entire treatment plan, which Dr. Bryan or Dr. Lauren designs digitally from start to finish. You’ll be able to see a virtual preview of how your teeth are expected to move before a single tray is ever made. Once your aligners are ready, you’ll receive your first sets and get started.

Throughout treatment, you’ll wear your aligners for 20–22 hours per day, removing them only to eat, drink anything other than water, and brush and floss. Because there are no brackets or wires, there are no food restrictions and no complicated cleaning routines — just your normal habits, plus aligners.

Why patients love clear aligners:

  • Virtually invisible — most people will never notice you’re wearing them
  • Removable for meals, photos, and special occasions
  • No brackets or wires to irritate your cheeks and lips
  • No restrictions on what you eat or drink
  • Easy to maintain good oral hygiene throughout treatment
  • Regular progress check-ins, including remote monitoring through DentalMonitoring, so you can track your smile from home
  • Comfortable, smooth trays designed to fit snugly against your teeth

Are clear aligners right for you?

Clear aligners are an excellent option for teens and adults dealing with a wide range of alignment concerns — crowded teeth, spacing, overbites, underbites, crossbites, and more. The best way to know for certain is a consultation with our doctors, who will evaluate your teeth and give you an honest recommendation based on your specific case and lifestyle.

At Dual Image Orthodontics, we don’t push any one treatment over another. We recommend what’s genuinely the best fit for you.

Angel Aligners

The Next Generation of Clear Aligner Technology

Angel Aligners are the clear aligner system Drs. Bryan and Lauren Lockhart chose to bring to Dual Image Orthodontics— and the reason comes down to one thing: they’re built better, and patients feel the difference.

Angel Aligners are backed by over 20 years of clinical research and collaboration with orthodontists and universities around the world, with more than 1.5 million smiles treated globally. That depth of real-world experience is built into every tray your doctor designs for you.

What makes Angel Aligners different from what you’ve seen before:

  • They stay clearer, longer. The material Angel Aligners are made from is a more advanced generation of aligner plastic — 3D-printed at a higher resolution, resulting in less staining during treatment. You’re wearing something clear all day — it should actually stay that way.
  • They’re more comfortable. Angel Aligners use high-quality, flexible materials for a more comfortable fit — smooth against your teeth and gums throughout the day with no sharp edges or rough spots.
  • Fewer attachments are bonded to your teeth. Angel Aligners use built-in aligner buttons rather than pieces bonded directly onto your teeth, which can reduce or eliminate the need for those extra attachments — making treatment smoother and more efficient, while also reducing the chance of an attachment coming unglued and requiring an extra office visit.
  • They can treat more complex cases. Angel Aligners accommodate a wider range of alignment concerns, allowing more patients to be candidates for clear aligner treatment rather than defaulting to braces. If you’ve been told before that your case might not be right for aligners, it’s worth asking again.

Every Angel Aligner treatment at Dual Image is planned personally by Dr. Bryan or Dr. Lauren — not by software on its own. You’ll see a digital preview of your results before treatment begins, and we’ll monitor your progress throughout using DentalMonitoring so your smile stays on track between visits.

Clear Aligners For Kids

Orthodontic treatment doesn’t have to be a big deal for your child — and with clear aligners, it often isn’t. For the right young patient, Angel Clear Aligners offer a comfortable, low-fuss path to a healthier smile that fits naturally into their everyday life.

Dr. Bryan and Dr. Lauren will always give you an honest recommendation based on your child’s specific case. Clear aligners work beautifully for many kids, but not every case is the right fit — and that’s okay. When aligners are appropriate, the benefits for kids are real:

No brackets means no mouth irritation. Kids in traditional braces often deal with wires and brackets that poke and rub. Clear aligners are smooth plastic with no sharp edges — a much more comfortable experience for young patients who are still getting used to orthodontic treatment.

Easy to keep teeth clean. Kids remove their aligners to brush and floss exactly as they normally would. No navigating around wires, no special tools, no extra steps — just good habits that protect their teeth throughout treatment.

Fewer things to break. No brackets to pop off mid-soccer game or after a crunchy snack. Aligners are removed for meals, so there are no food restrictions and far fewer emergency visits.

They can see their progress. Kids love being able to take their aligners out and actually look at how their teeth have moved. That visibility makes them feel involved in their own treatment, which makes compliance much easier for parents.

That said, clear aligners do require responsibility. Your child needs to wear their trays 20–22 hours a day for treatment to work as planned. For motivated kids with the right case, it’s a fantastic option. For others, braces may be the better path — and we’ll tell you which is which at your consultation.

Clear Aligners For Teens

High school and braces have a complicated relationship. The photos, the games, the performances, the first impressions — it’s a lot to navigate with a mouth full of metal. Angel Clear Aligners were made for exactly this stage of life: treatment that works hard without getting in the way of living.

Clear aligners let your teen move through treatment on their terms — without anyone having to know they’re even in orthodontic care unless they choose to share it.

They’re nearly invisible. Clear trays that fit snugly over the teeth — most people won’t notice them at all. Yearbook photos, prom, graduation — your teen smiles with confidence from day one.

No food restrictions. Ever. Pizza, popcorn, caramel — all still on the table. Aligners come out before meals, so there’s no list of foods to avoid and no awkward moments at lunch.

Easier oral hygiene. Without brackets and wires in the way, brushing and flossing stays completely normal. Healthy gums and clean teeth throughout treatment — not just after.

Sport and activity friendly. Whether your teen is on the field, in the pool, or performing on stage, aligners fit seamlessly. Athletes can remove them and wear a mouthguard during contact sports. Musicians won’t have brackets changing the way their instrument feels.

Remote monitoring keeps things flexible. With DentalMonitoring, Dr. Bryan and Dr. Lauren can track your teen’s progress through quick scans done at home — which means fewer office visits and more flexibility for busy family schedules.

The one thing that makes aligner treatment work for teens? Consistency. Aligners need to be worn 20–22 hours a day — and that part is on them. For motivated teens, the results are incredible. We’ll help you figure out at your consultation whether Angel Clear Aligners are the right fit for your teen’s case and personality.

Clear Aligners For Adults

Life didn’t pause while you were putting off orthodontic treatment — and your treatment shouldn’t ask you to pause now. Angel Clear Aligners fit into adult life the way braces simply can’t: discreetly, comfortably, and on a schedule that respects everything else you have going on.

More adults are choosing clear aligners than ever before, and for good reason. You’re not just investing in how your smile looks — you’re investing in your long-term dental health, your confidence, and the way you show up in every room you walk into.

Your treatment stays completely private. Clear trays that are barely noticeable when worn. No wires, no brackets, no metal smile in client meetings or family photos. Most people you see every day will never know you’re in treatment unless you tell them.

It fits around your schedule. With DentalMonitoring, we can track your progress remotely between visits — so you’re not carving time out of your workday for an appointment every six weeks. When you do come in, your time is respected.

No disruption to how you eat or drink. Remove your aligners for meals and enjoy everything normally. No food restrictions, no adjusting to what you can and can’t bite into. At restaurants, at work events, at home — nothing changes except your smile.

Oral health stays on track. Adults are more susceptible to gum disease and the compounding effects of misalignment over time. Clear aligners make it easy to keep up with oral hygiene throughout treatment — which means you’re arriving at the finish line with healthier teeth and gums, not just straighter ones.

Predictable results from the start. Before treatment begins, Dr. Bryan or Dr. Lauren will show you a digital preview of how your teeth are expected to move — step by step, tray by tray. You’ll know what to expect, how long it will take, and what the outcome should look like. No guessing, no surprises.

You’re treated by specialists. At Dual Image, every clear aligner treatment is planned and supervised by two board-certified orthodontists. That level of expertise matters — especially for adult cases that involve more nuance, bite complexity, or prior dental work.
If you’ve been waiting for the right time, or the right option that doesn’t feel disruptive — this is it.
